About Member

Wesenseghed​​ Hagos​​ is​​ an​​ Eritrean​​ lawyer​​ and​​ activist,​​ who​​ served​​ as​​ a​​ Legal​​ Adviser​​ at​​ the​​ Ministry​​ of​​ Internal​​ Affairs​​ and​​ in​​ the​​ Department​​ of​​ Human​​ Resource​​ Development​​ at​​ the​​ Ministry​​ of​​ Justice​​ in​​ Eritrea.​​ He​​ is​​ actively​​ engaged​​ in​​ advocating​​ for​​ the​​ promotion​​ of​​ human​​ rights​​ and​​ respect​​ for​​ the​​ rule​​ of​​ law​​ in​​ Eritrea.​​ He​​ is​​ a​​ regular​​ contributor​​ of​​ media​​ articles​​ and​​ presents​​ a​​ weekly​​ radio​​ program​​ aimed​​ at​​ raising​​ broader​​ awareness​​ pertaining​​ to​​ the​​ on-going​​ situation​​ of​​ gross​​ human​​ rights​​ violations​​ in​​ in​​ Eritrea.​​ He​​ comes​​ with​​ a​​ proven​​ professional​​ and​​ academic​​ background​​ in​​ the​​ area​​ of​​ international​​ law,​​ international​​ relations​​ and​​ development​​ studies.​​ 

 

He​​ obtained​​ his​​ Master​​ of​​ Laws​​ (LLM)​​ in​​ International​​ Trade​​ Law​​ from​​ the​​ University​​ of​​ Stellenbosch,​​ South​​ Africa,​​ in​​ 2003.​​ He​​ has​​ also​​ successfully​​ completed​​ various​​ modules​​ and​​ courses​​ in​​ Conflict​​ Resolution​​ and​​ Global​​ Studies​​ offered​​ by​​ the​​ University​​ of​​ Gothenburg.​​ Currently​​ he​​ serves​​ as​​ an​​ independent​​ consultant​​ in​​ law​​ and​​ development,​​ and​​ as​​ a​​ study-guide​​ in​​ Språkcentrum​​ in​​ Gothenburg.​​ Wesenseghed​​ is​​ a​​ founding​​ member​​ of​​ the​​ Eritrean​​ Law​​ Society​​ (ELS)​​ and​​ was​​ elected​​ as​​ Treasurer​​ of​​ ELS​​ in​​ March​​ 2017.
